I see the latest Mille Miglia was held in May and Alfa continued to triumph, as it has over the past 90 years, by taking every place on the podium.
The Mille Miglia 2018 was won by the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 GS Fixed Head, operated by the Tonconogy-Ruffini crew.
In second place was the outstanding 628 1500 Super Sport made in 1928, with bodywork by Stabilimenti Farina, while the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato, led by the Vesco-Guerini group, took third spot.
A total of 371 crews, comprised of 900 participants from 34 countries, travelled 1,083 miles to make it across the finish line.
On board some of the winning Alfa Romeos were many famous competitors, including Derek Hill, the bass player with Coldplay, Guy Berryman, Litfiba’s vocalist Piero Pelù, and Instagram automotive lifestyle experts Mr JWW and Sam 'STG'.
Mille Miglia President, Aldo Bonomi, has described the race as ‘popular but highbrow, technical but accessible to all’. Once again this was proved to be true with cheering crowds welcoming the drivers at every stage, celebrating the style and mechanical mastery of Alfa Romeo, a legend that continues to excite motor enthusiasts, just as much as it has in the past.
